It will, if the assignment lets it. The fix is in how you set the work, not in banning the tool: ask for the process as well as the product - the first attempt, what the AI got wrong, what they changed and why. A student who has to argue with an answer learns more than one who never saw it.

“They’ll use it to cheat and I won’t be able to tell.”
